The home to an iconic network of canals are Amsterdam. It has a liberal culture with the beautiful Vondelpark. Cities like Utrecht or Rotterdam are equally cool but a bit less busy.

To move permanently to the Netherlands, you got a few belongings to bring with you. International shipping comes with sea freight or air freight. The choice depends on your time and budget. Air freight is expensive and fast. The cargo planes would reach the Netherlands within three days. Air-freight is a good option for a last-minute move. Your shipping company would help you through the customs. Prepare an inventory of everything you bring to the Netherlands, by describing accurately and specifically. When the Dutch customs officials are dissatisfied with the inventory, they open your container and physically inspect it. This would incur extra fees and time, so have a truthful inventory.

When you are coming within the EU, you could bring household goods into the Netherlands duty-free. If you are coming outside the EU, you have to pay taxes on your belongings. You have to meet certain conditions to avoid taxes. Your household goods must be used for at least 6 months and then intend to use them in your new Dutch residence.
